About Us

The CHARGE website was created by Child Development and Rehabilitation Evidence Centre, a virtual knowledge translation centre established at the British Columbia (BC) Children’s Hospital, a part of the BC Provincial Health Services Authority (“PHSA”) in partnership with BC Children’s Hospital Digital Lab. We created the Site in collaboration with families, youth, healthcare professionals and clinical experts to be a trusted source for development, rehabilitation and support information and resources for children and youth with neurodiversity and/or disability in British Columbia.

Our website content process:

The CHARGE website was vetted by clinical experts, and where appropriate, in consultation with our Family and Youth Advisory Group, Indigenous Health Advisors and partner organizations. Content is reviewed on a regular basis to ensure the information is accurate and up to date. What is personal information?

What kind of information is being collected and how is it used?

PHSA is authorized to collect personal information via the Site under section 26 of FIPPA for the purposes described below. Information is collected from the website either directly from You or automatically.

Information collected directly from You

Personal information is only requested during the User account creation process, and when or if You update Your profile on the account settings page. The information provided is for the sole purpose of creating a unique account that allows You to log in and save resources to a personal list for future use. We do not use your personal information for any other purposes nor is it provide it to any third-party. The use of Your real name, regularly used email, or a real image of You or Your likeness, is not a necessity to use the Site.

You should also be aware that information provided by You becomes a record of the organization and is subject to the access and privacy protection requirements set out FIPPA. This information may be further collected, used and disclosed in accordance with FIPPA or as otherwise required by law. Under this legislation You are also entitled to access and correct any of Your personal information that is within our custody and control. CDRInfoSource uses Google Analytics to analyze Site usage, what visitors do on the Site, which browser they use, etc. This information is obtained from Internet Information Server (IIS) log files and allows Us to understand how the Site is being used so that We can improve the User experience. We collect only the following information as You browse through the Site:

• Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser-type and operating system (the IP address is a numerical identifier assigned either to Your internet service provider or directly to Your computer. This address can be translated to determine the domain name of Your service provider and may identify You.
• The date and time of the visit.
• The pages visited within the Site.
• The address of the referrer website.
• The search term(s) used to find the Site (if referred from a search engine).
